This salon is located on the border of Costa Mesa and Newport Beach. We wanted to incorporate California casual into the design but with a fun ecclectic vibe. To do this we used natural materials, different textures, and bright pops of color for warmth. One of my favorite features of the space is the rope wall divider. It was custom-made and so easy to hang! It is the perfect room divider in this open plan space because it mentally divides the space without physically or visually taking away the open and airy feel.
Vintage dryer stations were re-upholstered with gorgeous black leather and button-tufting.
I absolutly fell in love with this wallpaper from Kismet tile.
The owner of the salon had an old mannequin in his garage. A coat of white paint, a globe pendant, and some twin turned her into a unique chandlier.
The salon also serves as an art gallery for local up and coming artists. All of the artwork was done by local artists and can be purchased at the salon.
The owner, whose grandmother was also a hair stylist, had this old vintage hair dryer. Personal objects that have stories behind them are a great way to make your space one-of-a-kind and they offer tons of visual interest as well.
Work with what you have in your space. With product as beautiful as this, it's best to keep the display simple and let the colors and packaging of the item act as artwork.
Rugs always add a level of warmth and comfort to a space.
